Reducing energy consumption through intelligent systems and computer simulations

The following two articles from the Handelszeitung provide a brief insight into how the energy footprint of existing buildings can be reduced and how the planning of buildings and sites can be optimised using computer simulations.

The first article is about reducing the heat consumption of buildings during operation. Ideally, the building should already be optimised during the planning phase of a construction project with the use of dynamic building simulations. Energy and operating costs can be further reduced during operation, e.g. by using intelligent thermometers. This can reduce heating energy consumption by up to 35 %.

The second article is about digital twins of cities for property development. The digitalisation of the building stock enables users to interact virtually with the properties and receive direct feedback. Simulations are also playing an increasingly important role, as they can answer questions about building conservation, energy efficiency and sustainability.
